Cash Confusion

Salina Police are investigating after a quick change artist tries to trick a local clerk.

Police are looking for a known suspect that reportedly asked a clerk at the Petro 2 Gas Station, 2125 N. 9th, for a $100 bill in exchange for five $20 bills.

Staff contacted police on Monday morning after the man claimed the clerk cheated him by handing him back a $10 bill.

A check of the cash drawer showed there was no mistake – staff then confronted the suspect who was still in the parking lot.

Police say the suspect,  described as a Hispanic male told them to, “forget the whole thing,” and gave them two $50 bills.
