Salina Police

Police are looking for a suspect who was attempting to steal spools of wire from Westar Energy.

Salina Police Captain Chris Trocheck tells KSAL News that a white, male ran away from the dock area at 1001 Edison on Saturday morning at about 5:45am.

A worker arrived to find the suspect lining up eleven spools of copper and aluminium wire. Police say the a perimeter fence was cut in several places and that the spools were taken off Westar trucks.

The company estimates the spools value at $2,000.

Police say because the employee interrupted the burglar – nothing was taken from the site.

Well here we go again. You would think the cops would be patroling areas that contain this type of product since it is what people at stealing. Once again the New Chief is not smart enought to realize that and 5 will get you 10 that the patrol car that was assigned that area was parked somewhere doing nothing.
