Shoppers can make a big difference in their local communities by supporting Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday, the traditional start of the holiday shopping season.
In 2010, American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help businesses with their most pressing need — getting more customers. The day encourages people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The single day has grown into a powerful movement, and more people are taking part than ever before. This year, the big day is Nov 29.
With fewer shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, many small-business owners say they’ll be doing more to get shoppers into stores during the critical holiday season, according to a recent nationwide survey by NFIB and American Express.
