Guns, boats and jet skis will be up for auction on Saturday in Salina.
Items seized by Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism Game Wardens will be auctioned off in Salina Saturday at Wilson’s Realty, at 601 South Broadway.
Mike Miller, Chief of Information with KDWPT tells KSAL News when poachers are stopped by Kansas game wardens, property can be seized, “If somebody is caught doing something that is illegal, especially if it is an unlawful killing of an animal, a deer in particular, that animal or that carcas will be seized until the case is plead or goes to court,” Miller said.
“Or they may even forfeit some of their equipment as well.”
Items up for auction will include among other things, guns, mounted deer heads and antlers, boats, jet skis, deer stands, decoys, as well as other equipment from non-department sellers.
Proceeds from the auction will be deposited into the department’s WildTrust fund and allocated to assist with special hunts for veterans and youth and hunter education.
KDWPT regularly sells items forfeited in poaching cases or agency equipment no longer in use through public auctions.
