Arrest Made after Short Chase

A Salina man is in custody after leading police on a short car chase.

Captain Chris Trocheck tells KSAL News that an officer on patrol attempted to pull over a car for an illegal tag on Sunday at about 11:30am in the 200 block of N. Ohio.

Police say the driver of the Chevy Celebrity sped away and the chase ended less than 60-seconds later when he lost control of the vehicle near the railroad tracks on North Street and spun into the grass. SPD clocked the vehicle at speeds of 50-mph during the pursuit.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Bryant Whidden as he attempted to run from the car.

He was wanted on outstanding warrants and is now facing additional charges for eluding police.
