Abilene Child Killed in Accident

A child was hit and killed by a car after school in Abilene Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 6-year-old Tayla Womochil was hit by an SUV.

A 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 59-year-old Beverly Barnett of Enterprise was headed west on 6th street. The SUV stopped at a stop sign, turned left, and struck the child.

The accident happened at 3:23 Tuesday afternoon, at 6th and Buckeye near Garfield Elementary School.

Tayla’s father issued a message via social media:

“It’s comes with a heavy heart that I have to let my baby girl go (Tayla) I am so sad right now. she brought a smile to everyone whose life she touched. She was an amazing girl she gave so much love to everyone she came in contact with. She didn’t know the meaning of quit she came into this world and made it a better place. Every minute you have with your kids is precious we sometimes take that for granted. This could happen to anyone, so please give your loved one a hug tonight tell them you love them and don’t forget life is short make the most of every second with your loved ones. Tayla you will be missed and will always be loved. LOVE YOU BABY GIRL YOU WILL BE MISSED”
