5 Hurt in Salina Crash

A two vehicle crash on 9th Street sends five people to the hospital.
Salina Police report that 71-year-old Sandra Schmitt of Salina was southbound, waiting at a red light at the intersection of 9th and Belmont when her 2015 Nissan Ultima was struck from behind by an SUV.
Police say 32-year-old Alicia Ortiz of Englewood, Colorado was cited for inattentive driving, after allegedly smashing into the tail of Schmitt’s car with her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The accident occurred at 8:56pm on Monday night.
Passengers: Ava Ortiz and Phillip Ortiz both of Englewood, CO and Jeanann Corn of Salina were all taken to Salina Regional Health Center.
Extent of their injuries has not been released.
