Saline County Approves Disaster Declaration

Saline County Commissioners approve a disaster declaration. At their weekly formal meeting Tuesday morning, commissioners unanimously approved the declaration.

According to the Saline County Emergency Management office, many of the incorporated cities in the county have had significant road and property damage since flooding that began on July 22nd. There have been no reports of homes significantly damaged, but there is damage to county infrastructure, including bridges. Damage in some areas is still being assessed.

The local disaster declaration is in effect for seven days.

On Friday Governor Sam Brownback issued a disaster declaration for multiple counties in Kansas, including Saline County.

The disaster declarations makes it possible to receive funding to help in cleanup and repair of damage.
