Edward Leo Engelbert, beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Salina, Kansas, just two days shy of his 68th birthday. He was born on May 16, 1957, in Kingman, KS. Edward was a cherished son of Edward and Laura Lea (Petz) Engelbert. He leaves a legacy of love and dedication that will be felt for generations.
Ed’s life was a testament of hard work, loyalty, and devotion. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, embodying the values of discipline and commitment that would define his character throughout his life. After serving his country, Ed devoted 40 years to Brooks Liquor Store, Salina, Kansas, as a sales and route delivery man, where he was greatly respected and admired by both colleagues and business owners alike.
On August 28, 1982, Edward married his soulmate, Cynthia M. Marsh. Their union was a celebration of love and partnership that flourished over the 45 years together. Ed was not only a devoted husband but also a loving father to his bonus daughters, Sam (Jared) Smith, Jessica (Dustin) DeSerano, and Nichole Hubbard, who brought him immense joy.
In 1995, Ed and Cindy built their home, often referred to as “the farm,” where Ed found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved tending to his yard and garden, taking long walks with his cats, and running 5K races. Holidays were especially dear to him, and the annual 4th of July get-together was a highlight for family and friends. Ed was an avid reader and cherished watching movies and documentaries, often sharing his insights and laughter with those around him.
Ed was a member of the American Legion, where he continued to honor his military service. His warm personality and dedication were evident in all he did. Ed’s family extended far beyond his immediate relatives. He was a man who remembered names, embraced friendships, and made family out of friends. He had a soft heart, stood up for others, and was known for his honesty and straightforward nature. Ed’s humor and love of music, and his remarkable ability to remember lyrics, brought joy to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, James Dean Emmel, and niece, Tina Stout.
Ed is survived by his siblings: Eugene (Judy) Engelbert, Caroline Braum, Anna (Joe) Emmel, Arnold (Jake) (Lynette) Engelbert, Michael (Andressa) Engelbert, Mary Engelbert Derowitsch, Lisa (Vince) Duncan, Barbara (Greg) Clay, and Cheryl Rombough. Ed was a loyal brother, always ready to lend a helping hand or support in times of need and a wonderful friend/uncle to his numerous nieces and nephews. He took great pride in their accomplishments
