A guest at Salina’s La Quinta Inn – is now staying at the Saline County Jail after an incident in the hotel’s lobby.

Police say alcohol played a role in the events that led to the arrest of 57-year-old Vasco Vasconellos, of Kailua, Hawaii Thursday evening.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, officers were called to the La Quinta Inn, 201 E. Diamond Dr., around 5:50pm after a man allegedly began yelling obscenities in the lobby.

One guest told the man to watch his language, in turn Vasconellos told them he was going to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle. Officers searched the man’s room and RV and found no weapon.

Vasconellos is facing 1 count of criminal threat.
