KDOT Launches New Online Course Highlighting Driver Safety

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), has announced the launching of its new online course that is meant to promote driver work zone safety.

According to the agency, KDOT has launched “Kansas Work Zone Safe,” a free online driving course aimed at informing teens and others on how to safely navigate through work zones. The course includes helpful details on safe behaviors, laws and situations drivers may encounter in work zones.

Data collected from KDOT shows in 2024, 1,705 work zone related crashes occurred in Kansas. Those crashes resulted in 508 injuries and 8 fatalities.

Many highway workers will be relying on drivers to slow down and be attentive, that way everyone is creating a safe environment on the roads.

Students who complete this course, will be eligible for a scholarship that will be awarded at a date to be determined. People can gain access to this course by going to WorkZoneSafe.com

This announcement from KDOT was made this week, which is during “National Work Zone Awareness Week.” Go to https://www.ksal.com/kansas-goes-orange-this-week/ for more information
