Hay Bales Set Ablaze

KSAL StaffAugust 25, 2015

Salina Police are investigating a possible arson at the 2700 block of North 5th Street.

Charles Cline, 63, is the owner of the twenty-two hay bales that caught fire Monday. Each hay bale is valued at $65, making the total loss $1,130.

Jacob Palmer, 29, saw the flame when returning a tow truck, and called Cline. Cline instructed Palmer to try to hose off the bales, but the water to the hose was turned off. Salina Fire Department was then called to the scene.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and there are no suspects. The case remains under investigation.
