Democratic Senate candidate Adam Hamilton joined in on another “KSAL Candidate Conversation” Thursday morning.
The 62-year-old pastor said he entered the race deeply concerned about the state of the country and the economic hardships facing everyday Kansans.
Hamilton pointed to the impacts of Washington-driven policies, citing the ongoing war in Iran that has raised diesel prices, a hidden tariff tax costing families about $150 a month, and the loss of health insurance for 60,000 people over the past year and a half.
While supporting tighter controls on illegal immigration and criticizing the Biden administration’s handling of the border, Hamilton stressed the need for practical, comprehensive immigration reform that works with agricultural and service industries dependent on immigrant labor. He expressed a strong commitment to working across the aisle with Republicans to get things done for Kansas.
Hamilton contrasted his approach with his opponent’s, criticizing the incumbent senator for being disengaged and unavailable to constituents.
The race has drawn significant national spotlight, with high-ranking figures like President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance visiting Kansas to rally for Hamilton’s opponent, Dr. Roger Marshall. Hamilton considers it an honor to have the most powerful people in the country paying such close attention to his campaign.
