Gift Card Theft

KSAL StaffJuly 22, 2015

A Salina couple is facing theft charges for using a common scheme to gather gift cards at Target on Market Place.

Police say loss prevention staff at the store became suspicious after the couple returned several items from the baby department in return for gift cards.

A review of store video led to the arrest of 25-year-old Joseph Hoffman and 23-year-old Emily Hoffman, both of Salina.

Police say between June 29th and July 14th the two would enter the store, take items like car seats and baby monitors off the shelf – and head to the return counter for gift cards to use in the store.

Total amount stolen is listed at $590.
