Fire Quickly Extinguished at Pizza Plant

A fire at the Tony’s Pizza plant in southwest Salina was quickly extinguished Sunday evening.

The Salina Fire Department tells KSAL News that crews were called at 5:44 in the evening to the report of a fire on the roof of the facility. There was initially flames, and heavy smoke. The fire was out by the time fire fighters arrived.

According to the department, Tony’s staff was able to get the fire out with an extinguisher.

The fire originated in an exhaust stick on the roof of the plant bakery. Fires like this, which are quickly extinguished, are not uncommon.

As a precaution, the plant was evacuated.

The fire department remained on the scene for about a half hour.

There were no injuries in the incident.
