UPDATE: Sheriff’s Son Arrested In Murder Case

The son of the Lincoln County Sheriff is in jail facing second degree murder charges.

According to the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office, 33-year-old Scott M. Weigel was arrested Monday on a warrant charging him with second degree murder. He is the son of Lincoln County Sheriff Mike Weigel.

The arrest is in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old Keith Ancell. Deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of East School Street in Lincoln in the overnight hours Monday and found Ancell dead. His body was outside, in front a home.

Officials had the street blocked off for much of the morning as they worked the case. By early afternoon the street was back open.

Weigel is being held in the Lincoln County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
