Abilene Teen Killed In Crash

A teen from Abilene is killed in a one-vehicle crash in Ottawa County late Friday night.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 32-year-old Earl Anderson from Mantua, Nebraska, was driving a pickup truck south on US 81 Highway. He swerved to miss an animal in the road, and lost control. The truck entered the west ditch and overturned. 

A passenger was ejected, and killed in the crash. She is identified as 18-year-old Samantha Hosie from Abilene. 

Anderson and two other passengers were hurt. They are identified as 37-year-old Charlotte Anderson from Abilene and 20-year-old Tanner Grizzle from Herington. All three were transported to the hospital in Salina.

Troopers say that none of the four were buckled up.

The crash happened at 11:08 Friday night on US 81 Highway a half mile south of Rifle Road in Ottawa County.
