Riley County police say a 68-year-old man whose body was found during a welfare check over the weekend was the victim of a homicide.

Police spokesman Matthew Droge says evidence at the rural Manhattan residence Sunday afternoon indicates John Burroughs was killed. He declined to provide any other details, including cause of death.

Burroughs was found around 2:30 p.m. Police are asking anyone with information about what happened to him to contact the police department or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
