Woman Hit By Car On Busy Street

Todd Pittenger - May 9, 2015 4:28 pm

A woman was hit by a car while crossing a busy street in South Salina late Saturday afternoon. The accident happened at the intersection of Ohio and Albert Streets, at 3:52 in the afternoon.

Salina Police Officer Rande Repp told KSAL News at the scene that 31-year-old Sunshine Gibson of Salina was struck by a small passenger car as she was walking across Ohio Street. She was hit by a car driven by 49-year-old Debbie Pica of Salina.

According to Repp, Pica was headed east on Albert Street, preparing to make a left hand turn and head north on Ohio. As she was making the left hand turn, she struck Gibson, who was walking across the street in a crosswalk.

Police were still investigating who had the right-of-way in the accident.

Gibson was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center with non-life threatening injuries.
