Semi Strikes ATV in Western Kansas; 5 Hurt

Five people are injured after a tractor-trailer struck an all-terrain vehicle in western Kansas.

The accident happened Saturday night at the intersection of U.S. 56 and a county road near Copeland. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 35-year-old Andrew Dean Yost of Copeland tried to make a left turn and was struck by a 2015 semi driven by William Bartz of Portales, Florida, who was trying to pass the ATV on the left.

The semi drove into a ditch and rolled over. Bartz was taken to a hospital in Dodge City. Yost and three passengers, including two children, are hospitalized in Garden City. Condition reports were not immediately available.
