A seller on Craigslist falls victim to a fraudulent check.

Salina Police are investigating a theft by deception case after 19-year-old Amethyst Travelbee of Salina sold a lift chair recliner on the website Craigslist.

Police say the chair was listed for $250, and the buyer sent a check to the woman for $1,450.

The buyer then texted the woman to explain they had mad a mistake and overpaid – and asked her to wire the difference back to them in Michigan City, Indiana.

The woman’s bank later contacted her to inform her the check was fraudulent.
