A stop on I-70 turns into a trip to the Saline County Jail for a man from Illinois.

Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander reports that on Sunday around 12:05am a deputy pulled over a Kia Rio traveling eastbound on I-70 near the Hedville Exit for driving in the passing lane with no other vehicles on the roadway.

The deputy then noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the rented vehicle.

A search of the trunk revealed 9.4 pounds of marijuana packaged for sale in a brown duffel bag.

Twenty-three-old Delon Dalton of South Holland, Ill., is now facing multiple charges that could include distribution of pot, no drug tax stamp and driving in the left hand lane.

If the officer pulled him over for being in the passing lane with no other vehicles around then why do officers get to drive in the same passing lane without being punished for it. What would happen if a civilian was to stop law enforcement and cite them with the same enforcement? When are the law enforcement agencies going to lead by example instead of being above the same laws that they enforce?
