North Salina Group Supports Joint City-County Health Department

KSAL Staff - August 17, 2013 10:48 am

A north Salina organization supports a joint city-county health department.

According to North Salina Community Development, members met Thursday night at their regular monthly meeting and passed a resolution in full support of the City/County Health Department operated by a joint coalition agreement.

Those in attendance thought the current public health program was beneficial to the community and were concerned that without a cooperative operation, the result would be an eventual cut in health services and adverse effects which will negatively impact low income residents and all residents of Saline County, said Barb Young, chair of the organization.

They were also concerned about eventual loss in benefits for current health care employees and that the lack of a joint operating agreement would necessitate an increase in local taxes to cover increased costs of operating under one department, said Young.

North Salina Community Development is an organization of citizens and business owners with a goal of enhancing the community and providing more opportunities for economic development.

Just maybe these folks need to focus on what the group was formed for instead of getting involved in other community problems. They lose all respect in their endeavors for which their group was originally started up for. Lately they have not done anything for improving the area they live in and even to securing a grocery store to serve them.

This does not surprise me since a big portion of these people use it.

It says right here fellows that a cut in health services would negatively impact low income residents. Well North Salina is tops in that area. But services need to be dropped only essential services need to be provided. If these people want better care they need to get off their behinds and work not sit around smoking pot, drinking, producing unneeded children and playing video games. Maybe this Young gal needs to address these issues.

LOL redneck you will never see her do that. It is easier to jump on the band wagon that to tell it like it really is. She sure is not helping her cause for north Salina.
