Salina Sculpture Tour People’s Choice Award winner: “Next Up” is damaged.

Police say someone broke off the bronze racket of the tennis player depicted in the piece that is currently located at 2005 South Santa Fe sometime between midnight and 11:30am Sunday.

“Next Up” was selected by popular vote in 2014 from among the 26 pieces in the exhibition in Salina’s downtown Lee District and was scheduled to be moved to an area near the northwest corner of the Oakdale Park Tennis Courts, where it will go on permanent display.

The damage is estimated at $15,000.
