A Salina man moving to another state falls victim to an internet scam.

According to Salina Police, the 25-year-old was preparing to move to Texas. Using Craig’s List online, he found an apartment for rent in Galveston. After communicating via e-mail with a person who claimed to be the owner, the Salina man wired $460 as a deposit, along with a $9.50 fee.

The Salina man contacted police after discovering that the person he was communicating with was not the apartment owner.

Police say that this was a scam. Total loss is $469.50.
