Kansas Gay Marriage Ban Ruled Unconstitutional

Associated Press - August 10, 2015 2:32 pm

A federal judge has voided the Kansas ban on same-sex marriages as unconstitutional in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court decision on the issue.

U.S. District Judge Daniel Crabtree summarily ruled Monday that the provision in the Kansas constitution that prohibits issuing marriage licenses same-sex couples or recognizing such marriages violates the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. That ruling also applies to any Kansas statute, law, policy or practice that bars or fails to recognize such unions.

But Crabtree stopped short of issuing a permanent injunction so as to give Kansas the opportunity to voluntarily comply, as its attorneys have assured the court they will do.

The court says some facts in the court record suggest Kansas officials have not uniformly complied with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

what kind of god denies LOVE? a weak, evil, feeble one

Loving, all-inclusive, helpful, profitable marijuana and hemp companies can’t even get tax status….

yet discriminating, freedom denying hate groups hiding behind religion and “religious freedom” are TAX EXEMPT?…..

…and still no LGBT protections in the workplace, time to change that….

Juanita – LGBT folks aren’t whining about marriage anymore, it’s the Conservative Christians who are whining about it. They still don’t believe they have to recognize it, nor work/serve people who are LGBT. This is why it’s so important that Sexual Orientation be added to Anti-Discrimination Laws. LGBT people are not fully protected in many areas. I myself have been discriminated against at my job, looking for housing, and when making reservations at a Bed and Breakfast for lodging. Believe me, when your discriminated against it makes you feel worthless, it belittles you, and the person doing it gladly takes power away from you.

As for Black Lives, well it’s more of a Police having too much power thing. I agree not all those people were innocent, but in some cases they were. Look at the white kid that was just killedin SSouth Carolina – shot in the back, and the cop lied about it.
Other items today that are important is Immigration, for example what to do with all the families here, that have childrenthat grew up in America. There are some tthat want them all sent back to Central and South America. Me, I believe we’re a nation of immigrants, and we do better with diversity. I’m all for letting these folks stay. What about you?
