A  man was killed in a rollover crash near Kanopolis Lake Wednesday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol the crash happened in rural Ellsworth County, on K-141 Highway.

A Chevrolet Suburban was headed north when the driver fell asleep. The SUV entered the southbound lane, hit a cement guard rail, then rolled about 27 feet down the west ditch.

The driver, identified as 56-year-old Steven L. Kelley of Kanopolis, was extricated and flown to a hospital in Lindsborg, where he later died.

The crash happened just before 6:30 in the morning,  on K-141 Highway a couple of miles north of K-4 Highway.
