Halloween Fun in the Rain

A little rain did not dampen the fun for hundreds of costumed children who converged on Downtown Salina Friday evening. Despite wet, chilly condition the sfe trick-or-treat Boo-Rama event did not  disappoint.

Despite a steady rain, the crowd of trick-or-treaters was just a s steady.  Downtown businesses set up shop on the sidewalk and handed out treats. Treats ranged from a wide variety of candy to popcorn and even full cans of soda.

Alpha Media Salina radio station KSAL broadcast live from the event.

Several similar safe trick-or-treat events are planned for Saturday. The Central Mall’s Malloween Kid’s Fest carnival, featuring fun, games, and prizes is from 11:00 till 2:00.  Safe trick-or-treating at the mall is from 5:00 till 7:00.

Kansas Wesleyan University also has several Halloween events planned. Gates for the KWU football game open at 12:30 p.m.  This year’s traditional student-run Trunk or Treat event will be set up on decorated tables on the North Concourse of the stadium, until kick-off at 1:30 p.m., while the candy lasts. There will be a costume parade on the Olson Family Track in front of the grandstand at 1:05 p.m.

It’s also Military/Heroes Recognition Day, which means military, DOD personnel and first responders and their families will be admitted free with I.D.
