Truck Fire Destroys 41,500-Pounds Of Pork

An early morning truck fire shuts down I-135 for a short time Friday.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office tells KSAL News that a semi-trailer driving southbound early Friday morning around 5am caught fire – destroying it’s contents of 41,500-pounds of processed pork bellies.

Multiple rural fire districts responded to the scene about 2-miles south of Water Well Road.

The truck was headed southbound, headed from Nebraska to Wichita. The driver noticed smoke coming from the rear of the trailer. He stopped and put a small fire out near the rear tires. The fire reignited and destroyed the trailer and its contents.

There were no injuries.
