Free Fishing Day June 4th

Registration is now open for a free day of fishing in Salina.

“Fishing With a Cop” drew over 100 kids last year, who showed up to throw a line into the water at Lakewood Park.

The event was a spin-off from the annual Lakewood Fishing Derby that added the involvement of local law enforcement.

Officers were there with displays, providing hands-on advice for some young anglers and by sharing stories while displaying watercraft and patrol cars.

Organizers are reminding businesses that they can make a charitable contribution to ensure that every child will have a positive experience.

In 2015 drawings were held for prizes that included fishing poles, kayaks, a gas grill plus a couple of fishing trips to Lake Texoma and Milford Lake.

Throughout the day participants fished with friends, family, and had an opportunity to fish with Salina Police Officers, Saline County Sheriff Deputies, Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers and Officers with the Kansas Wildlife and Parks.

The 2016 Fishing’s Future – “Fishing With a Cop” is a free event for everyone, Saturday, June 4th at Lakewood Park.
