Daycare Provider Arrested

A Salina daycare provider is arrested for allegedly choking a child who was in her care at 1912 Simmons Street.

Police took 51-year-old Christine A. Knipp into custody on Thursday after the mother of a preschool age girl called police about marks she discovered on her child’s neck.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that officers found the bruising on the child’s throat area consistent with strangulation.

The child was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for examination on June 7th.

Knipp was arrested on June 16th.

Police are requesting a charge of aggravated battery which, according to authorities is a more serious charge than child abuse.
