Community Invited to Unity BBQ

An event designed to unity the community is planned in Salina. After the success of a similar event last year, “Unity in Kansas 2” is planned in Salina’s Oakdale Park.

Shaunice Talbot is one of the organizers of the event. She tells KSAL News that the entire community is invited to the free event. The goal is for all members of the community to come together, have a great time, and enjoy some great food.

The event will feature free food. The menu will include typical bbq food. There will hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, and drinks.

Talbot say that along with the fellowship and food, there will be fun and prizes. There will be a raffle, and chances to win prizes that include things like gift certificates and special made gift basket. She says that a couple of bicycles and helmets have been donated to be given away, and adds that one lucky winner will take home a a huge fireworks package.

There will also be entertainment.  Damion Dashon Cooper will speak, and Antwon Curtis will offer some family-friendly comedy.

Talbot stressed that anyone is welcome to attend.

The “Unity in Kansas 2” community event will be held on Saturday, July 1st, from 4pm – 7pm in Salina’s Oakdale Park.
