A Salina man is arrested after a short high speed pursuit.

Police say an officer on patrol Sunday evening recognized a man who was driving a car on a suspended license and attempted to make a stop at the corner of 10th and Broadway.

Police say 34-year-old Charles L. Nelson sped away and led the officer on a 2-minute chase that hit speeds of 60-mph.

Nelson jumped out of the car in the 700 block of N. 8th and ran.

A short time later he laid down on the ground and placed his hands behind his back and was taken into custody.

Nelson is now facing multiple charges that include eluding police, reckless driving and driving while suspended.
