Arrest In Stabbing Murder Case

Salina Police have made an arrest in connection with a stabbing death on Thursday.

According to police, on Thursday morning at 9:34 officers were sent to the area of Roach Street and Max Avenue reference a stabbing. Upon arrival they found Loan Nguyen-Lovelace, 43, of 745 Max Avenue, with a stab wound to her chest.

Nguyen-Lovelace was treated by medics and transported to the Salina Regional Health Center where she died at 12:11 p.m.

Nguyen-Lovelace had been involved in a disturbance at her residence with an acquaintance, Thuy Duong, 46, of 1315 Pawnee.

While they were arguing, Doung stabbed Nguyen-Lovelace in the chest.

Tommy Ly, 45, was downstairs and heard the argument and came upstairs. During a struggle with Doung, Ly received lacerations to his hands. Nguyen-Lovelace immediately went to a neighbor’s house and asked the person for help while Doung fled the scene.

Officers quickly obtained Doung’s information and notified law enforcement agencies statewide.

Doung was located in her vehicle, parked at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, and arrested.

The Salina Police Department will be requesting charges of 2nd Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery against Doung.

The Salina Police Department credits cooperation with the Mulvane Police Department and the Kansas Gaming Commission for making a quick arrest.
