Additional Arrests Made in Sunday Stabbings

At a Tuesday media conference, police provided more details regarding a weekend stabbing and capture of a man considered armed and dangerous on Monday afternoon.

According to Captain Mike Sweeney, SPD’s SWAT Team along with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office and and air unit from the Kansas Highway Patrol surrounded a home located in southeast Saline County.

After a short foot chase police arrested 34-year-old John James Brown. The case stemmed from the alleged stabbing of two men Brown was acquainted with at a house located at 212 S. Penn early Sunday morning.

Police say 30-year-old Joseph Mullen was cut on the right hand and 25-year-old Sheldon Freeman was stabbed in the torso.

Officers interviewed both victims at Salina Regional Health Center.

Police also arrested 30-year-old Dominic J. Aita and 29-year-old Adam D. Spaeny in connection to the case for obstructing the apprehension of John Brown.
