State Legislators Approve Measure Banning Transgender Athletes in Women’s Sports

The Sunflower State is moving ahead with legislation to ban transgender athletes from participating in girls’ and women’s sports.

Yesterday, Kansas legislators voted 28 to 11 to approve the state bill, which affects K through 12 schools, colleges and clubs.

If Governor Laura Kelly signs the bill – which state officials say is likely — the measure reportedly would take effect July 1st.

Authorities say 17 states have enacted similar legislation.
