A stacked lineup of nationally renowned storytellers, are set to tell tales this weekend at an annual Kansas Storytelling event.
The 31st annual Kansas Storytelling Festival (KSF) will feature professional storytellers, uttering tales in Downs, KS starting on Friday, April 25th and ending on Saturday, April 26th. Tellers set to appear include:
- Ed Stivender
- Priscilla Howe
- Paul Strickland
- Pippa White
- Michael D. McCarty
“Its a perfect time to put down your phones and just be amazed at these stories,” said Kansas Master Storyteller, Mike Nyhoff.
Nyhoff also stated this event has gained world attraction, as visitors and storytellers have come from Canada and Denmark.
Event goers can also hear other stories from the “Tall Tell tellers,” “Local “Legends, “Master Storytellers” and “Swappin’ Ground,” where attendees get to tell stories of their own.
KSF is made possible each year by a dedicated group of volunteers who coordinate the event, entertainment and the business of KSF. Funding for the event comes from grants and donations thanks to community foundations, local businesses and community members.
The festival officially starts at 1:30 pm this Friday in Memorial Hall, but will be spread throughout 4 venues Downs.
Downs is known to be “Storytelling Capital of KS.” KSF started in 1994.
