A search at Kanopolis Lake which began Thursday night ended early Saturday afternoon with two bodies pulled from the water.
Three people, an adult male and two teenage girls, were in the water near a boat Thursday night when the boat drifted away in the wind.
A 14-year-old girl, who had been in the water for an extended period of time, made it to shore with the help of a camper who came out to help. KAKE News identifies the rescuer as Darryl Lee.
Another 14-year-old girl and an adult male were still missing. According to the Ellsworth County Sheriff’s Office, their bodies were recovered early Saturday afternoon.
The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is working at the scene, along with three area dive teams including the Saline County Mounted Patrol and Rescue Squad dive team.
Search and recovery efforts are ongoing at Kanopolis Lake in an effort to find two people who went missing Thursday night.
According to the Ellsworth County Sheriff’s Office, high wind has been hampering efforts.
The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is working at the scene, along with three area dive teams including the Saline County Mounted Patrol and Rescue Squad dive team. They have have been at it steadily since early morning.
Holiday boaters are asked to please stay away from the search personnel and vessels.

ORIGINAL: The Saline County Mounted Patrol and Rescue Squad Dive Team are among first responders searching for two people in Kanopolis Lake.
Late Thursday night the Ellsworth County Sheriff’s Office, along with members of the Marquette Fire and EMS, McPherson Fire and EMS and Dive Team, Saline County Mounted Patrol and Rescue and Dive Team, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Kansas Highway Patrol, Lyons Police Department were on the scene of a boating incident which occurred near Kimball Point at Kanopolis Lake.
According to the Ellsworth County Sheriff’s Office, one young female made it to shore safely with the assistance of a nearby onlooker / camper who rushed into the water to help rescue her. She was transported to the Lindsborg Hospital and then airlifted to a Wichita Hospital in serious condition.
Two other possible victims of this incident were unaccounted for. A search for them was still underway Friday.
