William “Bill” R. Logan

William Robert Logan was born in rural Formoso, KS, on June 17, 1942, to William Lloyd and Aletha Marie (Reed) Logan.

Bill attended country school at Woodbine and graduated from Montrose Rural High School with the Class of 1960.

Bill was a member of the Jewell County Westernnaires, Hub of the Nation Quarter Horse Association, United Rodeo Association, and the United States Team Roping Association. He was co-owner of Mankato Livestock, Inc. LLC from 2005-2012.  Bill enjoyed team roping all his life and the friends he made with all those cowboys. He was self-employed as a farrier for as long as he was able. He took after his Grandfather Logan who was the Formoso blacksmith. Bill also spent much time helping area ranchers and farmers checking pastures and their cattle year around. His interests were always centered around cattle and horses.

Bill married Marie Ilene (Sipe) Logan on February 19, 1961. To this union were born a son, William Dwayne, dying at birth, two daughters, Vicki Marie and Cynthia Louise.

He especially enjoyed the summers his grandson, Luke Wilson Cramer, spent in Kansas when they could go fishing and riding horses.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marie Ilene (Sipe) in August 2025, his son William Dwayne in 1961. His survivors are Vicki (Carl) Cramer, Miramar, Fl, Cindy (Carrol Ubel), Manhattan, KS, and Luke (Rebecca) Cramer, Kissimmee, FL.

He is also survived by his sister Donna Marie (Lloyd) Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Harmony United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Balch Cemetery, Formoso, KS. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 4-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 5-7 pm, all at Melby Mortuary, 402 N. High St., Mankato, KS 66956.
