Willard John Schuckman

Willard John Schuckman, 83, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:11 a.m., Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 while in the company of his wife, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas.

Willard was born in Hays, Kansas on September 21, 1935, a son of Rosie (Schaffer) and Daniel John Schuckman.

Willard attended the LaCrosse grade school and graduated from LaCrosse High School, LaCrosse, Kansas in 1953.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church McPherson, KS

He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sgt. during the Vietnam War.

Through the years Willard worked at Great Bend Mobile Homes as a Salesman; was a mechanic and farmer for Wendling Farms in Halstead, Kansas; and was a mechanic for Hutcherson Safety Lane, Consolidated Motors, Ken Goering Motors and retired from Wallace Chevrolet as a mechanic in 1998.

Willard was a life member of the American Legion Post 24 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 both of McPherson. Willard enjoyed camping, racing, grilling and cooking out,and loved his family and grandchildren.

Willard John Schuckman was united in marriage to Ileta Morgeson Burton. Willard John Schuckman was united in marriage to Sally Ann Zweifel Palmer on June 7, 1980 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead, Kansas. The couple established their first home together in Halstead. The couple moved to McPherson in 1982.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over thirty-eight years, Sally Schuckman, of McPherson, Kansas; his daughters, Donna Brazda, of LaCrosse, Kansas and Kimberly Frank and husband Keith, of LaCrosse, Kansas; his step-son-in-law, Jerry Wayne Phillips, of Galva, Kansas; his step-daughter, Kelly Alexander and husband Daril, of McPherson, Kansas; his siblings, Alverna Schaffer and husband Francis, of LaCrosse, Kansas, Mary Lou Schaffer and husband Ray, of LaCrosse, Kansas, Larry Schuckman, of LaCrosse, Kansas, Marjorie Schaffer and companion Earl Stevens, of Wichita, Kansas and Randy Schuckman and companion Sheryl, of Sedona, Arizona; his 10 grandchildren, Jaynie, Jayda, Brandee, Branden, Brad, Jennifer, Jessie, Jonathan, James, and Raven; 24 great-grandchildren – McKayla, Korisa, Daunte, Kaiden, Olivia, Keenan, Bowen, Hadlee, Jace, Hunter, Karter, Piper, Kassidy, Gunner, Kimber, Ryla, Dierkson, Maisa, Alida, Gracelynn, Copeland, Karleigh, Brendon, and Kustom; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Willard was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Rosie Schuckman; a daughter, Brenda Jane Schuckman; a step-daughter, Kayla Sue Phillips; a sister, Illene Schaffer; and a great-granddaughter, Karsyn Alvord.

A Rosary will be Saturday 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, KS, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th, 2019 with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating.

Final resting place will be at the Empire Cemetery Galva, Kansas.
