Virgil N. Brummer

Virgil N. Brummer, age 80, passed away on, Friday, July 27, 2018 at Marquis Place, Concordia, Kansas. He was born on November 19, 1937 in Tipton, Kansas to Joseph I. and Kathryn E. (Thomas) Brummer.
Virgil was a 1956 graduate of St. Johns High School, Beloit, Kansas. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Kansas State University in 1960.
Virgil married Susan Sleeth on April 22, 1961 in Beloit, Kansas. They were united in marriage for over 57 years.
Virgil was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Past member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, Jay Cees, all of Concordia, Kansas.
In September of 1962 the family moved back to Concordia and Virgil worked for Midway Motor Company before starting his own Public Accounting Firm which he ran for 11 years. He then became the Branch Manager for First Federal Savings and Loan and Home Savings Association for 18 years. In 1993 Virgil became the Office Manager for Babe Houser, where he retired from.
Virgil enjoyed restoring old mustangs, traveling, golfing with his buddies, and most of all spending time with all his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Susan of the home in Concordia, KS.; 2 daughters, Carole Stetina (Joe), St. Charles, Ill.; Elizabeth Hammel (Steve), Overland Park, KS.; a son, Stephen Brummer (Judy), Hays, KS.; 3 sisters, Elaine Donahoo (Harvey), Aurora, CO.; Dorlyn Kersh (Lynn), Tyler, TX.; Joan Laraby, Great Bend, KS.; 2 brothers, Jerry Brummer (Pauline), Beloit, KS.; Clarence Brummer (Mary Lou), Beloit, KS.; 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Roland and Kenneth Brummer, 2 sisters, Arlene Fischer and Loretta Krone.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Vigil at 6:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends after the Parish Vigil, all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, with Fr. David Metz officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.
