Velma (Weathers) Pedersen

Velma was born on a small farm near Wellington Kansas February 21, 1932 to father Herman Audman Weathers and mother Hazel Lydia Hibbs-Weathers

She went to school in Morehead Kansas until the end of her sophomore year when she moved to Salina to be with her sister.

She met her husband Melvin while waitressing at a cafe near where he worked. They were married in September of 1949.

Velma had several jobs over the years. She waitressed, worked at Safeway and Amark Printing all while raising two sons, Randall and Melvin Junior. She went to work at Mel’s Tack and Saddle in 1973 after 16 years at Amark Printing. She worked with her husband until his passing in 2002 and kept the business open for another three years until her retirement in 2005 at the age of 73.

She passed Sunday October 23, 2022 at Brookdale Senior Living on Fairdale Avenue where she lived for the last three months.

Graveside service will be 2pm, Monday, October 31, 2022 at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center or St. Jude Memorial Foundation and may be sent in care of Ryan Mortuary.
