Tim Edward William Marks

Tim Edward William Marks –a.k.a Ed Marks, Eddie Marks, Fast Eddy, Uncle E., “Silly Grampa,” and “Dad”– passed away on Friday, July 27. He was born May 29, 1945 in Salina, the son of Frank & Alice (Garvin) Marks. Ed was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked as brakeman, switchman and conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years and retired in 2010. He served as board member of the Central Kansas Foundation and was dedicated to the recovery community, through which he helped countless people. Ed also made numerous friends as he supported K-State women’s basketball, his granddaughter’s softball teams, NAIA men’s basketball, and years ago, the Maymount Spartan basketball team.

Ed was an avid handball player, and was a lifelong member of the Y.M.C.A.
He was also an enthusiastic scuba diver and enjoyed regular sailing trips
to the Bahamas. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a sister,
Phyllis Bachofer.Survivors include his wife Barbara; one son, Tim (Rita)
Marks; two daughters, Katherine (Justin) Gardner and Jennifer (Daniel)
Bailey; three grandchildren, Audrey, Lilah and Gavin; and three neices,
Betsy Bachofer, Brenda Cameron and Amy (Jamie) Jones.Visitation will be
4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Ryan’s Mortuary, 137 N 8th,
Salina. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 1, at
10:00 am at the same location. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to
