Terry Lee Acheson 70 years of age, of Salina entered in to God’s Heavenly Kingdom on Monday, July 10, 2023 at his home in Salina, KS.
Terry was born April 24th, 1953 in Russell, Kansas to Alvin Sr. and Norma (Kuntzch) Acheson.
Terry was a 1972 graduate of Russell High School. He married Peggy Pfannenstiel on October 13, 1978 at Church of the Nazarene in Great Bend, KS.
Terry and Peggy were blessed with three children, Heather, Michael, and Saprina.
He worked for Shields Oil Producers in Russell for 20+ years. He moved to Salina in 1998 where he went to work for Salina Waste Systems until he retired in 2021. In retirement he started a nuisance trapping and pest removal business which he enjoyed immensely.
He was an avid outdoorsmen; he had a love for Lake Wilson where for over 50 years he would hunt, fish and trap. Terry mentored many young people to become good stewards of the land and to hunt responsibly.
Some of his favorite times where hunting and fishing with his brothers, children, grandchildren and wife. Frequent camping trips included water gun fights with the grandkids, harvesting deer for the freezer, making new friends and enjoying nature. Watching his children and grandchildren compete in sporting events was very important to him. Most will remember him in the stands cheering or down with the kids coaching, he never missed a game.
Known as PaPa in the later years of his life, Terry loved being with his family, watching the Chiefs, KU, cooking chicken fried steak, sitting on the patio watching the birds, and tending to his yard, flowers, and garden.
Not only was family important, but be he had a love for life and all people, he enjoyed having coffee with his friends in the early mornings and will be missed by many.
Terry is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Heather Acheson of Great Bend, KS, son Michael (Julie) Acheson of Lebannon, IL, daugher Saprina (Leroy) Burks of Smolan, KS, brother Danny (Peggy) Acheson of Salina, KS, brother Donny Acheson of Russell, KS, five grandchildren Brianna Acheson of Lebannon, IL, Jon Burks of Salina, KS, McKenzie Burks of Smolan, KS, Kaitlyn Acheson of Lebannon, IL and Danny Burks of Smolan, KS. As well as 7 nephews, 4 nieces and a host of cousins.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Alvin Sr. and Norma (Kuntzsch) Acheson, brother Robin Acheson, brother Alvin Acheson Jr.
Memorial service will be 11 am, Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at First Southern Baptist Church, 2401 S Ohio Street, Salina.
