Terry F. Chancy

Terry F. Chancy, 80, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born March 8, 1946, in Concordia KS to Clifford and Mildred (Crum) Chancy.
He was a graduate of Delphos High (1964) and went on to get a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University (1971). It was in Hays where he met his wife to be, Janice Trussell. They were united in marriage on August 2, 1969, and had 2 children Chris and Jenny.
In 1976 Terry moved the family back to Delphos to take over the family farm. They built a house not far from where he grew up and over the next 50+ years he turned it into more than just a home, it was his oasis, his heaven on earth. In 1992 he stepped away from farming full time and took a job with Farm Credit Services/American Ag Credit until he retired in 2012.
Terry was a busybody and would rarely sit down. He loved to fish, play golf and travel (especially to their vacation home in Tucson). He loved his pond and everything he had built around it and enjoyed sharing it with friends and family. But his biggest love was being an Opa. His grandkids were everything to him and loved spending time supporting and watching them do what they love.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Mildred; wife Jan; daughter Jenny; and brother-in-law Terry.
Survivors include his son Chris; grandchildren Milla, Fynn and Ilsa; brother Gary (Mary); Brothers-in-law Jim (Mary); John (Alice) and Gary (Rita) and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial is being planned for Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 A.M., at the Words of Light Fellowship Church in Delphos KS. Fellowship and lunch will follow at the church. A short Graveside Service will follow at the Delphos Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Jenny Chancy Scholarship Fund as part of the MHS Alumni Foundation and may be left in the care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
