Sonja E Meier, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Marquis Place Assisted Living in Concordia, KS. She was born on July 16, 1931, in rural Clyde, KS, to Swedish immigrants Gottfrid and Margaret (Gustavfson) Fredrickson.

She graduated from Agenda Rural High School in 1948 and later attended Kansas Wesleyan College in Salina, KS.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Anderson on December 22, 1950, at Brantford Covenant Church in Clyde, KS. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1992.

She later married Ewald Meier on July 6, 1996, at Brantford Covenant Church in Clyde, KS. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2015.

Sonja devoted her life to her family as a homemaker and farmer’s wife.

She was a faithful member of Brantford Covenant Church in Clyde, KS, where she was active in many areas of ministry. She also belonged to the Gideons Auxiliary, a Bible distribution ministry.

She is lovingly remembered by two sons, Daniel Anderson (Barbara) of Elkhart, IN, and Robert Anderson (Teena) of Odessa, TX; one daughter, Kathryn Scanland of Westchester, IL; one daughter-in-law, Margie Anderson of Concordia, KS; six grandchildren, Jenny Mata (Oscar) of Queretaro, Mexico, Emily Hall (Cody) of Elkhart, IN, John Anderson of Noblesville, IN, Michael Anderson of El Paso, TX, Emily Zybach (Kelsey) of Tulsa, OK, and Braden Anderson (Kiersten) of Tulsa, OK; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Kenneth D. Anderson and Ewald Meier, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Anderson; her parents; and two brothers, Darold and Evert Fredrickson.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Brantford Covenant Church in Clyde, KS, with Pastor Michael Ostermann officiating. Burial will follow at Brantford Covenant Cemetery in Clyde, KS. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service.
