Rose Ann Girard

Rose was born Rose Ann Burgan on November 2, 1932, to Edmond and Loretta Burgan in Kansas City, Missouri. She was an avid reader and loved history, travel, and western movies. As a young girl, Rose could be seen attending theatre events at her father’s theaters in Kansas City. She would tell stories of how she met many movie stars. She particularly would talk about the time that she met actor, John Wayne, who was her favorite movie star. She said that she remembered how he would pick her up and prop her up onto his shoulders. She thought she was going to Heaven because he was so big and tall. He was an amazing man who took the time to be with her.

After her time in Kansas City, she moved with her family to Clovis, New Mexico, where they had a beef farm. It was there that she met the love of her life, Eddie J. Girard, Jr. who was in the United States Airforce where he served for 26 years.

Rose loved her military life because she got to travel all around the world. She lived in various locations including New Mexico, Japan, Tennessee, Colorado, Utah, Germany, and finally Kansas.
