Roland Dee Kuntz, age 77, passed away on June 3, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, from diabetic complications.
Born on October 5, 1947, Roland was the youngest child of Harry and Laura Kuntz. He grew up in the Buckeye community, just outside Abilene, Kansas, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the land while farming and ranching alongside his father and brother. Roland attended Chapman High School.
In August 1971, Roland married Shirley Faidley, and together they welcomed three children: Toni, Shane, and Mandi. Roland instilled in his children the values of hard work and his Christian faith. He attended First Methodist and Emmanual Church of Abilene and enjoyed his time with the Buckeye Saddle Club.
After his divorce from Shirley, Roland found love again with Christie Leonard of Concordia, Kansas, marrying her in January 1996. This union brought him two bonus children, Chad and Julie, both of whom he embraced as his own.
Roland’s career was diverse, spanning roles in sales, and ultimately at American Family Insurance, and then retiring as a crop adjuster.
Roland’s legacy lives on through his five children, fourteen grandchildren, along with two great-grandchildren.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Laura Kuntz, his wife Christie Kuntz, and his brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Linda Kuntz.
Roland is survived by his children: Toni Carpenter (Justin) Stillwater, OK, Shane Kuntz (Lauri) Lawrence, KS, Mandi Mills (Chris) Eudora, KS, Chad Leonard of Colorado Springs, CO, and Julie Treiber (Bill) of Laporte, CO. and all his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Emmanuel Church, located at 1300 North Vine Street in Abilene, KS.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, at Emmanuel Church in Abilene.
