Riley Dane Clark

Riley Dane Clark, 93, went peacefully to his eternal rest Thursday, October 5, 2023, at home with his wife and family by his side. He was born the youngest of 10 on May 21, 1930, in Lincoln, Kansas, to Alfred S. and Mabel Mae (Dane) Clark. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. After graduation, he found the love of his life, Betty D. Sandquist. Riley married Betty June 24, 1950, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina. They were blessed with 73 years together while raising 17 children. His career led him to Santa Fe Truck line, Graves Truck line, Salina Scales, and other various businesses before retiring at the age of 75. Riley was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Cathedral. In addition to his dedication to his faith and family, Riley was a dedicated sports fan, especially Sacred Heart High School sports and his beloved Kansas City Royals.

Riley was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Jesse, Richard, and Harvey; sisters Marie Knox, Beth Cox, Rachael August, Lois Cooper, Thelma Sharnell, and Vera McConigly; daughters Rhonda Clark Cole and Annette Marie Clark; sons-in-law Mike Ziegler and Mark Cole; and grandsonsDane Hamilton and Trevor Rassette. He is survived by his wife and children, Pam Ziegler of Hutchinson; Fr. Dana Clark of Ellis; Debbie (Richard) Earley of Statesboro, Georgia; Tony Clark of Salina; Joe (Rita) Clark of Hutchinson; Mickey Benfield of Salina; Jamie Clark of Hutchinson; Jackie (Mike) Hamilton of Salina; Chris (Kathy) Clark of Salina; Monte Clark of Salina; Teena (Jay) Davies of Reading; Tammy (Monte) Garrison of Great Bend; Aimee Clark of Salina; Terri (Mike) Rassette of Salina; and Sheri (Eric) Winters of Salina; 44 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 11th with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 12th at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina; burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.  Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral or Sacred Heart Junior-Senior High School for the chapel renovation.
