Norma Jean (Hartman) Depperschmidt

Norma Jean (Hartman) Depperschmidt, 84, of Salina, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026.  She was born in Park, Kansas to David T. and Genevieve (Wildeman) Hartman, on June 7, 1942.  She married Marvin Depperschmidt in Park, Kansas on June 3, 1961.  They were married for 63 years.  Norma worked for USD 305 in the food service department for many years.  She was a devout member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Mom loved her family and friends.  Nothing made her happier than times spent together, whether for a short visit or an unplanned stop to say hello.  Whether it was a visit from her kids, nieces and nephews, grandkids, in-laws, brothers, sisters, friends.  She had great pride in her home and everything was always spotless.  All were welcome to stop in and sit for a visit.

Mom was a faith filled woman, a prayer warrior.  She had such a big heart.  Whenever you called Mom on the phone you could hear the smile in her voice.  She had a great attitude and she will be remembered always as a genuine, loving, caring soul.  She will be greatly missed!

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Melissa Roell, of West Des Moines, IA, Mark Depperschmidt (Kathleen), of Salina, Tom Depperschmidt (VeAnne), of McPherson, and Brad Depperschmidt (Wendy), of Frost, TX; siblings, Ethel Waldman (Delbert), of Commerce City, CO, Lois Limes, of Garden City, Inez Overton (George) of Colby, Delbert Hartman (Lorie), of Arvada, CO, Joan Heier (Leon), of Hays, Ronald Hartman (Marilyn) of Ogden, UT, and sister in law, Judy Hartman, Arvada, CO; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Jude, Joel, Levi, Christopher, Nathan, Nerissa; and 11 great grandchildren, plus two more expected in the Fall.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin, son in law, Jerry Roell; brothers, Charles Hartman and Roger Hartman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1000 Burr Oak Lane, Salina, with Fr. Michael Elan as celebrant.   The Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m. prior to service time.  Inurnment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
